Worcestershire Photographer gives away free headshots and Generates Leads at RWC Bizfest 2023

During the 2023 RWC Bizfest Business Festival in Worcester, a local photographer offered a unique and engaging experience for attendees.

Helen Yandell, based in Droitwich, provided 10 complimentary headshots to festival participants on a first-come, first-served basis.

Bizfest strives to be a one-of-a-kind business festival, offering immersive experiences for both exhibitors and visitors. We aim to go beyond simply showcasing brands; we want attendees to fully engage with the services and expertise of our participants. Offering free headshots aligned perfectly with this goal, proving to be an effective networking tool for both Helen and the attendees who received her services.

The festival venue, the Royal Porcelain Works, provided a diverse array of suitable backdrops, perfectly complementing Helen's expertise as a business photographer.

In this blog, we delve into Helen's experience at Bizfest. She shares her positive feedback and explains how the festival proved to be a valuable opportunity for her business growth.

I’ve been a photographer for over 20 years. My business, Helen Yandell Photography, focuses on helping business owners become more visible online showcasing business headshots that portray their character and services or products.

Currently, I work with solopreneurs and small business owners that need lifestyle headshots and images for social media and websites.

In November 2023, I took the plunge and decided to book my first business expo - and BIzfest seemed like the right event to get involved in. It was a day of learning, workshops and networking in Worcester.

Instead of having just a normal static expo stand, I decided to take it a step further and give away a free headshot. Most of my clients seem to know that they need to be visible in their business but possibly lack the confidence to take the plunge and book a headshot session, it’s a bit like having it on the “To Do” list and always putting it off. So by offering a free headshot allowed me to really show potential customers what a photography session is like and what results they can get.

You need to feel relaxed and confident with your photographer to get a natural smile and stand in front of the camera so offering a FREE headshot was a way of people getting to know me and how I work and them also getting an updated headshot with the hope that they would invest and work with me in on a shoot in the future.

They got to experience my process from the initial email prep before the shoot, giving ideas about style, clothing and the vibe that they were looking for. They then received all their professional images on a private online gallery so they could choose their favourites.

The Bizfest event was really well received, and it was great to chat and connect to people in between the headshot sessions there were so many places around the Royal Porcelain works in Worcester that made great backdrops. This meant each person had a totally different background and feel to the shots.

The feedback I got for the event was great and i’ve managed to sell some of the headshots!
